About Rosemary Murphy
Rosemary is founder and creative director of Murphy Design. She has successfully designed projects for a variety of sectors, including financial services, Fortune 500 companies, small businesses, nonprofit organizations, hospitality industry, colleges, universities and individuals. Rosemary has lived and worked in Philadelphia since 1981 and has owned and operated Murphy Design since 1985.
Rosemary earned a BFA in graphic design at University of the Arts. She holds a Masters in Liberal Arts from University of Pennsylvania where she completed a capstone project entitled Photojournalists Report from the Field: Words, Images and Ethics Are Part of the Picture.
The Philadelphia design community named Rosemary an AIGA Fellow and celebrated her accomplishments and contributions to the profession with a cocktail party and reception at The World Cafe Live on June 6, 2012. Rosemary’s commitment to AIGA included chairing the Poetry in Motion project, serving as Philadelphia Chapter President, initiating a new Business Breakfast series and chairing a Nominating Committee for the National Board. Rosemary continues to be active in the Philadelphia design community and serves as an
AIGA mentor.
Outside of her design work, Rosemary is involved with competitive dragon boat racing as well as outrigger and marathon canoe racing. She is a runner, three-time marathon finisher.
Adjunct Teaching
Rosemary serves as adjunct faculty in the graphic design programs at Drexel University and Moore College of Art. The courses she teaches include logo design, basic design, basic and advanced typography courses, digital image making, brand identity, book design and senior thesis advising.
